Juvenile Justice Journal, Volume IV, Number 2 (Making a Difference Issue)
(NCJ 166823) December 1997
OJJDP Juvenile Justice Journal, Journal, 32 page(s)

Presents two articles, each of which highlights efforts to "make a difference" in the juvenile justice system. The first, an interview with OJJDP Administrator Shay Bilchik, presents Mr.Bilchik's thoughts on the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 and its legacy of more than two decades of accomplishments on behalf of youth, their families, and our Nation. It also outlines his vision of the future of juvenile justice. The second article, "Youth Gang Drug Trafficking and Homicide: Policy and Program Implications," by James Howell examines the relationship between youth gang involvement in drug trafficking and homicide, and then suggests constructive steps toward the solution—support for promising strategies and proven programs that are already at work.
