Plan a Special Event
(NCJ 171689) July 1999
OJJDP Youth in Action Series, Bulletin, 8 page(s)
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

Explains how youth can plan special events or activities to focus community attention on important issues such as child safety or drug abuse prevention. This Youth in Action Bulletin explains how special events such as 5K races, car washes, or other fundraisers may help prevent or reduce crime in neighborhoods, schools, and communities. To help youth plan special events, the Bulletin includes a three-page checklist detailing what needs to be done during the 20 weeks before an event. After supplying tips on how to evaluate special events, the Bulletin lists organizations that youth may contact for additional information. The Bulletin's writing and format are geared to youth.
