| Presents three articles on the juvenile court, which celebrates its centennial anniversary this year. The articles argue that the developmental differences between children and adults require distinctions in the way they are treated by the judicial system. The first-an interview with the immediate past president of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges-presents the reasons to celebrate the centennial. The history of the court is explored in the second article. The third article considers that the juvenile court can be the most effective prevention tool in the juvenile justice system. To help inaugurate the court’s second century, OJJDP launched its Juvenile Court Centennial Education Initiative, which is described in the In Brief section. |
