Chyrl Jones
Office of the Administrator
Deputy Administrator


Chyrl Jones is the Deputy Administrator for Programs for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. She oversees the State and Community Development division; the Juvenile Justice Systems Improvement division; and the Youth Development, Prevention, and Safety division.

These divisions encompass many of OJJDP's major programs, including Defending Childhood; the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention; the Supportive School Discipline Initiative; prevention-focused, community-based violence prevention solutions; mentoring; tribal youth; Internet crimes against children; missing and exploited children; aftercare; and systems reform.

Ms. Jones also served as the Deputy in OJJDP's former State Relations and Assistance Division and worked on behalf of designated state agencies for 15 years prior to her current position as Deputy Administrator for Programs.

Before coming to the U.S. Department of Justice, Ms. Jones worked at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Governors Association, the University of Maryland, and local consulting firms.

Ms. Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of the District of Columbia.
