This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), a small elite group of top government leaders. The incumbent of this position serves as a Deputy Administrator responsible for the overall administration of OJJDP research, training and technical assistance, budget and operations, and communication portfolios. This broad portfolio combines operational management and juvenile justice policy coordination. The incumbent is actively involved in the promulgation and advocacy of the juvenile justice and delinquency prevention policies and objectives as established by the Administrator. The incumbent resolves significant, timely issues centered upon the juvenile justice and delinquency prevention system. The incumbent communicates effectively with the other OJJDP Deputy Administrator as they lead the operations and policy areas in alignment with the Administrator's priorities and ensure appropriate collaboration and communication among the divisions and teams of OJJDP. Supervisory Grants Management Specialist (Deputy Associate Administrator)
The incumbent has the responsibility for supervising staff responsible for knowledge management and support to include identification of applicable federal and private fiscal, technical assistance and information resources and capacities; consultation to grantees on coordination of resources; review and critique of grantee analyses of policies and fiscal and investment strategies, and advising on development cross-sector and community-wide collaborations as well as creating public-private partnerships to advance grantee work. The incumbent also has the responsibility for assisting supervising staff responsible for programmatic and fiscal oversight, planning, development, implementation, and assessment of grant programs that address youth delinquency and victimization prevention and response and/or community development.
