Following a review of state Formula Grants applications, OJJDP has found that states are implementing a broad range of DMC reduction initiatives, including the following:

  • Community mapping
  • Delayed warrant issuance for probation violations
  • Diversion programs (arrest, intake, and court)
  • DMC conferences/summits

  • MacArthur Foundation Models for Change
  • Minority Family Advocacy programs
  • Nonsecure and emergency shelters
  • Objective screening/assessment instruments
  • Planning, research, and evaluation activities
