The week's activities are being coordinated by Chicago Safe Start, a program of the Office of Violence Prevention in the Chicago Public Health Department. The theme of this year's observance is "Every Person, Every Day!"

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is supporting community-based strategic planning to prevent and reduce the impact of children's exposure to violence through the Attorney General's Children Exposed to Violence Demonstration Program.
