A:	Nationally, females accounted for 13% of juvenile offenders in residential placment in 2010.

The female proportion of committed offenders was higher in private facilities (13%) than in public facilities (11%).
The female proportion was higher for detained offenders (16%) than for committed offenders (12% for public and private facilities combined).
In 6 states and the District of Columbia, females represented no more than 10% of offenders in custody; in 19 states, females represented at least 15% of offenders in custody.
