Note: Rates for "All ages" represent the number of youth assigned a bed on the reference date because of an offense per 100,000 youth in the general population ages 10 through the upper age of juvenile court jurisdiction in each State. Rates are not presented for ages younger than 13 or older than 17 because there were too few youth in these age groups to calculate a reliable rate.

Note: U.S. total includes 2,567 youth in private facilities for whom State of offense was not reported and a few of youth who committed their offense in a U.S. Territory but were being held in a U.S. mainland facility. Visit the EZACJRP methods section for more information about unknown state of offense.
