Delinquency services in Illinois are organized at both the state and local level. Community supervision in Illinois is administered by county-level juvenile courts, however, each is monitored closely by the state-level Administrative Office of the Courts. The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice, a state executive agency, administers commitment to state public facilities and provides parole services for youth leaving state facilities. Secure detention in Illinois is administered locally by either judicial or executive agencies across 23 judicial circuits.
