Status offense cases are classified as delinquent children who commit certain other acts and who need care, treatment or rehabilitation. The superior and circuit courts have jurisdiction over status offenders and delinquents though in St. Joseph County a probate court has jurisdiction. A court may extend jurisdiction until a juvenile reaches 21.
