Massachusetts' delinquency services are organized at the both the state and local level. Secure detention and state commitments are both administered by the Department of Youth Services (DYS), within the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services, a state executive agency. Community Supervision is administered by the Office of Commission of Probation a state judicial agency, across 11 local divisions. Aftercare services, for those youth leaving state facilities, are administered at both the state and local level by either DYS or local juvenile courts.
