In New Jersey, state-level agencies operate most delinquency services. Detention centers are administered by county boards, commissions, county executives/managers, and local sheriffs/police chiefs. Probation is administered by probation officers assigned to the Administrative Office of the Courts, Superior Court Probation Services Division. The Department of Law & Public Safety, Juvenile Justice Commission administers state commitments to juvenile facilities. Aftercare services are provided by the Juvenile Justice Commissions Office of Juvenile Parole and Transitional Services.
