| | Balanced and Restorative Justice Videoconference | | (NCJ 188420) June 2001 | | OJJDP Teleconference Videotapes, Videotape | | | | This teleconference, which originally aired on June 28, 2001, highlighted some of the key principles involved in the balanced and restorative justice model and provided guidance to agencies that want to design and implement such a model. OJJDP aired this broadcast with the support of the Department of Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Eastern Kentucky University, Training Resource Center and Screened Images Multimedia (SIM). Diverse strategies that are thought to lead to successful implementation of restorative practices, such as leadership, programs and policies, staff roles, allocation of resources, and use of information, were discussed. In addition, the teleconference featured three jurisdictions that are implementing restorative justice programs. The broadcast was designed for juvenile justice practitioners, including judges, juvenile probation and aftercare staff, juvenile correctional administrators, supervisors, case managers, youth service providers, professionals in private and public mental health agencies at the federal, state, and local level, and policymakers at the federal, state, and local levels. | |
