| | Going Home: Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative Videoconference | | (NCJ 193384) February 2002 | | OJJDP Teleconference Videotapes, Videotape | | | | The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) originally aired this teleconference on February 28, 2002, as part of its Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative. The reentry of serious, high-risk offenders into the community has long contributed to serious and violent crime in this country. More than 630,000 adult and an estimated 100,000 juvenile offenders are released from U.S. prisons and correctional facilities every year. This teleconference provided information on the initiative's funding levels, eligibility criteria, eligible activities, and application requirements. The broadcast was designed for criminal and juvenile justice practitioners, judges and staff, policymakers, community leaders, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation and parole officers, social service agencies, law enforcement agencies, and others interested in promoting public safety and helping former offenders live as law-abiding and contributing members of society. | |
