Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Describes OJJDP's activities during fiscal years 1996 and 1997. During these years, the Office focused on implementing the Comprehensive Strategy for Serious, Violent, and Chronic Juvenile Offenders. Other priorities included providing mentors, strengthening families, improving the courts' response to abused and neglected children, eliminating hate crimes, and sharing information with practitioners in the field. This Report highlights OJJDP's major accomplishments in these and other areas and discusses the philosophy that guided program plans. It also summarizes the latest information available on juveniles taken into custody and lists OJJDP publications released during 1996 and 1997.
