This bulletin provides a theoretical overview on which to base policies, procedures, and practices to help professionals effectively supervise underage drinkers in the community. The authors describe the goals and principles successful communities use to guide their approach to underage drinking, discuss laws related to alcohol use and the rights of underage drinkers, and highlight the legal issues that professionals who work with these youth may encounter. The bulletin is part of OJJDPs underage drinking bulletin series, which highlights the dangers of underage drinking and provides guidelines for communities developing treatment and prevention programs.
