Describes the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP's) activities during fiscal year (FY) 2000, including data collection, research, evaluation, demonstration, training and technical assistance, and information dissemination. Although America's communities have made considerable progress in reducing juvenile crime and violence, serious challenges remain that require the ongoing attention of the juvenile justice system. This Report document's OJJDP's recent activities in fulfilling its statutory mandate to lead the Nation's efforts to combat delinquency, strengthen the juvenile justice system, enhance public safety, and prevent victimization. The Report also summarizes the latest available information on juveniles taken into custody. A list of OJJDP publications released in FY 2000 is included.
