Foreword

Each year, the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is required to obtain delinquency development statements from Federal agencies that administer or support juvenile delinquency programs and activities. Delinquency development statements describe Federal efforts and activities that conform with and further Federal juvenile delinquency prevention and treatment goals and policies. This report contains delinquency development statements for fiscal year 1995.

Juvenile Delinquency Development Statements: A Report on Federal Programs examines how Federal agencies are working to address the problems associated with juvenile delinquency, with a close look at specific agency policies and programs aimed at reducing or preventing juvenile crime and criminal behavior. The report describes agency goals and priorities as they relate to preventing, intervening with, or treating juvenile crime and delinquency. It presents examples of Federal cooperation and collaboration aimed at addressing juvenile delinquency. It also offers descriptions of programs and initiatives that illustrate how each agency meets its goals.

The information contained in this report will help Federal, State, and local juvenile justice professionals enhance service delivery and coordination; identify areas for greater cooperation and collaboration; and access information and resources to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency, crime, and violence. I invite you to use this document to better coordinate and deliver services for children and youth.
