(NCJ 178917) December 1999
OJJDP Juvenile Accountability Block Grants Series, Bulletin, 12 page(s)
Gramckow, H. P., Tompkins, E.
Features one of the three Juvenile Accountability Block Grants (JABG) program purpose areas that focus on enhancing the ability of prosecutors to address juvenile crime. This OJJDP Bulletin, part of a series of Bulletins on the JABG program, recommends how to fulfill prosecutor-specific purpose area 5-enabling prosecutors to address drug, gang, and youth violence. Offered are data on recent trends in juvenile violence, drug offenses, and gang-related offending and possible prosecutorial responses to such offenses. The examples of promising prosecutor-led programs provide many ideas that prosecutors can use to enhance their own efforts.
