Juveniles in Court
(NCJ 195420) June 2003
OJJDP National Report Series, Bulletin, 32 page(s)
Sickmund, M.
Provides a summary of the latest statistics available on juveniles in court. This Bulletin, part of OJJDP's National Report Series, provides national numbers and an overview of how courts process cases involving juvenile offenders. The Bulletin uses court data and research findings from several different sources, including OJJDP's National Juvenile Court Data Archive and the Bureau of Justice Statistics' National Judicial Reporting Program. In addition to juvenile court activities, this Bulletin provides a summary of state statutes that define who is under juvenile court jurisdiction and how juvenile courts transfer juveniles to criminal court. Also discussed are research findings about court handling of very young offenders.
