This videoconference, which originally aired on March 6, 2003, was sponsored by the National Center on Education, Disability, and Juvenile Justice, which is jointly funded by OJJDP and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. The teleconference addressed the significance of prevention, education, and transition/aftercare in reducing the risk that youth with disabilities will become involved in the juvenile justice system. The broadcast was designed for correctional administrators, educators, and student support personnel; federal, state, and local policymakers; juvenile justice and other youth service professionals; juvenile court judges; law enforcement administrators and officers; probation and parole officers; child and family advocates; transition/aftercare and mental health professionals; and others interested in helping youth.
