This guide is intended for use in training teams that lead pilot programs involving the integration of the principles and resources of juvenile drug courts (JDCs) and the case management plan of the Reclaiming Futures Initiative (RF).
Abstract
The integrated JDC/RF model was initiated because JDC and RF are complementary models. Both focus on juveniles, and both contain evidence-based components needed for successful outcomes; however, there are differences. JDC details program components, and RF addresses elements in system approach. An integrated model embeds JDCs components with RF's system approach. This training guide for creating a unified JDC/RF model provides instruction in the modification of the typical logic model format; a combined list of JDC/RF activities; the incorporation of site-specific process data and JDC/RF initiative request for proposal (RFP); and the use of the logic model as a tool for program planning and implementation. A review of normative expectations for the integrated JDC/RF drug court logic model is presented. The expectations address the problems and sub-problems that will be targeted, program activities, output measures, and outcome measures. The training uses logic model activity, which includes working in site-specific groups of trainees, and comparing existing site activity with the integrated JDC/RF logic model. The training concludes with discussions and questions related to key activity challenges, strategies, and successes.
