The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) announces the availability of OJJDP News @ a Glance, July/August 2013.

This issue's lead story highlights a presentation by members of the National Research Council on the findings and recommendations of an OJJDP-funded report on recent advances in scientific understanding of adolescent brain development that should be more fully incorporated into juvenile justice policies and practices. The issue also includes special features on the following topics:

• An OJJDP report on four listening sessions held with families and youth who had direct experiences with the juvenile justice system.
• OJJDP’s national training and technical assistance resources.
• A U.S. Department of Health and Human Services letter encouraging state and tribal governments to integrate trauma-informed screening, assessments of child well-being and functioning, and evidence-based practices into their services to children and families.
• Upcoming events.
