OJJDP Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Formula Grants Regulation

August 25, 2016

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is accepting public comments to the proposed Title II Part B Formula Grants Regulation recently published in the Federal Register. The regulation was last updated in December 1996, and OJJDP’s goal, through this proposed regulation, is to establish clear numerical standards that eliminate subjectivity in the compliance determination process for the deinstitutionalization of status offenders, separation, and jail removal core requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974. OJJDP is also developing an assessment tool to help eliminate subjectivity when the Office determines compliance with the disproportionate minority contact core requirement. Interested parties may view an electronic version of this proposed rule and comment on it at http://www.regulations.gov. OJJDP requests that all comments and/or questions be submitted electronically to the Federal Register. Comments must be received by no later than 11:59 p.m., E.T., on October 7, 2016.
