Federal Advisory Committee Issues Recommendations for LGBQ/GNCT Youth

The Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice (FACJJ) has issued its recommendations to OJJDP for strategies to advance juvenile justice reform for LGBQ/GNCT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, questioning/gender nonconforming, transgender) youth. The LGBT subcommittee, which is comprised of FACJJ members and leaders who work with and/or identify as LGBQ/GNCT youth, formulated the recommendations. The recommendations are grouped into four categories:

  • Policy and Program Development
  • Training and Technical Assistance
  • Data Collection and Research
  • Federal LGBT Juvenile Justice Coordination

FACJJ is a consultative body established by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 and is supported by OJJDP.
