Bullying is a prevalent and serious problem: One of every five students ages 12 to 18 experiences bullying, and the consequences can include depression, substance abuse, and, in some cases, suicide. National Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about bullying and highlight approaches communities can adopt to stop this harmful behavior.

More than one-third of the children (37 percent) in the 2014 National Survey of Children’s Exposure to Violence experienced a physical assault and 5 percent had been sexually victimized during the past year, according to the newly released America's Children in Brief: Key National Indicators of Well-Being, 2018.
