Case Rate Trends
With the exception of cases involving Hispanic youth, truancy case rates were lower in 2018 than 2005.


Note: Rates are cases per 1,000 youth ages 10-upper age of juvenile court jurisdiction.
*Excludes persons of Hispanic ethnicity. Persons of Hispanic ethnicity can be of any race.

  • Truancy case rates for each race group peaked in 2006 or 2007. Between their respective peak and 2018, truancy case rates decreased 22% each for Hispanic youth and American Indian youth, 21% each for white youth and black youth, and 11% for Asian youth.
