Note: Rates for "All ages" represent the number of juveniles assigned a bed on the reference date because of an offense per 100,000 juveniles in the general population ages 10 through the upper age of juvenile court jurisdiction in each State. Rates are not presented for ages younger than 13 or older than 17 because there were too few juveniles in these age groups to calculate a reliable rate.

Note: Rates for "All racial/ethnic groups" include juveniles identified in the CJRP as "Other" race, most of whom were individuals with multiple race identification. Rates are not presented separately for these "Other" race juveniles because there is no comparable reference population available.

Note: The "Hispanic" category includes persons of Latin American or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race. These persons are not included in the other race/ethnicity categories.

Note: U.S. total includes 2,648 juvenile offenders in private facilities for whom State of offense was not reported and a handful of youth who committed their offense in a U.S. Territory but were being held in a U.S. mainland facility. Visit the EZACJRP methods section for more information about unknown state of offense.
