Note: U.S. total includes 2,324 youth in private facilities for whom State of offense was not reported and a handful of youth who committed their offense in a U.S. Territory but were being held in a U.S. mainland facility. Note: Until 2006, the CJRP collected 6 detailed race/ethnicity categories (White, Black, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander) and "other." For the period 1997-2007, rates for youth identified as "other" race or "more than one race" are not presented because there is no comparable reference population available.
