Note: The rate is the number of juvenile offenders in residential placement per 100,000 juveniles ages 10 through the upper age of original juvenile court jurisdiction in each State.

Note: U.S. total includes 2,324 juvenile offenders in private facilities for whom State of offense was not reported and a handful of youth who committed their offense in a U.S. Territory but were being held in a U.S. mainland facility. Visit the EZACJRP methods section for more information about unknown state of offense.

Note: Rates for "All racial/ethnic groups" include juveniles identified in the CJRP as "Other" race, most of whom were individuals with multiple race identification. Rates are not presented separately for these "Other" race juveniles because there is no comparable reference population available.

Note: The "Hispanic" category includes persons of Latin American or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race. These persons are not included in the other race/ethnicity categories.
