Oregon User Guide 2004 – 2021

Archive staff have consulted with the Youth Development Council (formerly known as the Oregon Commission on Children and Families), county level data collectors, and the Oregon Youth Authority since 1993 to develop a common data extract that could be used by the state and contribute to the archive.

Beginning with calendar year 2004, Oregon submitted a file from its Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS), a statewide-integrated information system, administered by the State of Oregon through the Oregon Youth Authority. As part of a collaborative partnership between the Oregon Youth Authority and Oregon’s county juvenile departments, JJIS was designed, developed, and implemented to support a continuum of services and shared responsibility among all members of the juvenile justice community. The goal of JJIS is to: (a) provide a comprehensive view of information about juvenile offenders across Oregon’s state and county juvenile justice agencies; (b) provide comprehensive support for managing individual juvenile offender cases and tracking juveniles through the juvenile justice process; (c) provide the capacity for and aid in the overall planning, development, and evaluation of programs designed to reduce juvenile crime; and (d) recognize and support the common business needs of juvenile justice partnership agencies. The files submitted from the JJIS system are processed and standardized into the national reporting format.
