| Describes OJJDP’s activities and accomplishments during fiscal year (FY) 2002. A major focus for the year was to ensure that serious and violent juvenile offenders have opportunities to reenter their communities successfully on release from correctional facilities. Other priorities included streamlining information dissemination and involving faith-based organizations in juvenile justice activities. OJJDP also worked extensively on child victimization issues, youth gang initiatives, and tribal youth programs. The activities described in this Report illustrate the Office’s continuing commitment to combating delinquency, strengthening the juvenile justice system, and protecting children against abuse and exploitation. The Report also summarizes the latest information available on juveniles taken into custody and lists OJJDP publications released during FY 2002. |
