Describes delinquency cases handled between 1985 and 2004 and petitioned status offense cases handled between 1995 and 2004 by U.S. courts with juvenile jurisdiction. Courts with juvenile jurisdiction may handle a variety of matters, including child abuse and neglect, traffic violations, child support, and adoptions. This OJJDP Report, the 76th report in the Juvenile Court Statistics series, focuses on cases involving juveniles charged with law violations (delinquency or status offenses). The data used in the analyses were contributed to the National Juvenile Court Data Archive by nearly 1,900 courts with jurisdiction over 77% of the juvenile population in 2004. Available online only.
