  • Title II Formula Grants are awarded to states in compliance with the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act. The act requires that states take steps to deinstitutionalize status offenders, ensure separation of juvenile offenders in holding from adult offenders by sight and sound, limit the placement of juveniles in adult facilities, and reduce the disproportionate number of minority youth that come in contact with the juvenile justice system. The act aims to improve juvenile justice and delinquency programs for serious and violent juvenile offenders by providing funding for more efficient and effective programs.
