This annual report details the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP's) efforts to prevent and control juvenile delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system.

Abstract

This report discusses OJJDP's efforts to reduce children's exposure to violence, intervene in and prevent girls' delinquency, address youth gangs, support mentoring activities, facilitate reentry efforts, prevent bullying, enforce underage drinking laws, improve conditions for Tribal youth, enhance emergency planning, strengthen the juvenile justice system, enhance public safety and law enforcement, and fight child exploitation. Chapter 1 covers major accomplishments as well as OJJDP's ongoing commitment to finding solutions that have the greatest potential for improving the juvenile justice system and keeping communities safe. Chapter 2 discusses activities that illustrate how OJJDP is helping to coordinate efforts at every level of government and in local communities by offering at-risk and adjudicated youth the most comprehensive and effective services available. Chapter 3 discusses the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act which supports local and State efforts to prevent delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system through the formula grants program. Chapter 4 describes how OJJDP is defending children against victimization through their work with community, law enforcement and social service agencies. Chapter 5 concludes with an overview of the agency's information dissemination activities for the juvenile justice field. Appendixes A-C
