This fact sheet presents statistics on delinquency cases handled in U.S. juvenile courts between 1985 and 2011. From 1985 through 1997, cases climbed 62 percent before falling through 2011. In 2011, juvenile courts handled 7 percent more cases than in 1985, 345,000 of those cases involving females compared to 891,000 involving males. Includes statistics for person, drug, and property offenses.
