Horizons Expand and Relationships Evolve: A Best Practice Research Study of New York City Mentoring Programs

This report examined personality and social-cognitive predictors of establishing a close mentoring relationship. The study found that "over-optimism" in mentors predicted early closures of mentoring relationships but that mentees reported positive experiences in the mentoring relationships.
