(NCJ 251835) June 2018
OJJDP Model Programs Guide Literature Reviews, Summary, 8 page(s)
Development Services Group, Inc.

The OJJDP Model Programs Guide literature reviews provide practitioners and policymakers with relevant research and evaluations on more than 40 juvenile justice topics and programs. This literature review synthesizes available research about the prevalence, common practices, and outcomes associated with indigent defense in juvenile justice. The authors found recent data on juvenile indigent defense are limited, especially by type of counsel and come largely out of public defender agencies. Research has found mixed results regarding the benefits (or detriments) of counsel on juvenile court outcomes.
